Losar

Losar is the most important festival of Tsum valley celebrated for 15 days in January/February. The festival is also regarded as the New Year for the community.

Saka Dawa

This festival is usually celebrated in May at local gumbas and monasteries in order to memorize the birth, enlightment and demise of Lord Buddha.

Faning

Faning festival is usually celebrated in August to mark the attainment of internal energy. Since energy is produced by the nutritious food, therefore local people celebrate this festival by having healthy and tasty food.

Nara

Local people dance with masks in this traditional and historical festival. It is celebrated in different seasons (Gumba Thosing Labrang Nara- January, Khansar Labrang Gumba Chipu Nara-June, Nile Labrang Ghonghe Gumba Nara- October, Ngag Labrang Nara- December) in different monastries headed by Labrang.

Dhachyang

This is one of the important festivals of Tsum valley and is normally organized for the welfare of the society in the months of November and December. In this festival, horses are beautifully decorated for the race of the horses, therefore can be also called the Festival of the Horses. Men are the major participants of the festivals while women rejoice themselves by watching the racing of the horses.
