About Tsum Valley Trek and Expedition
Tsum Valley Treks & Expedition Pvt. Ltd was founded in 2015 to promote sustainable tourism in the Tsum Valley, a region opened to tourism in 2008. Despite its natural beauty, the valley was overshadowed by the popular Manaslu region, attracting few tourists. Locals primarily relied on agriculture, with minimal involvement in tourism. This limited the authentic experience that local guides or companies could offer, as most treks were led by non-local guides. Additionally, the valley faced challenges such as the gradual loss of cultural and traditional values and the depletion of natural resources.
To address these issues, Tanzin Gyalzen, a professional trek leader with extensive experience in the Tsum Valley and other Himalayan regions, established Tsum Valley Treks & Expedition. The company was built on a threefold mission: to preserve and conserve local traditions, enhance the livelihoods of local youth and residents, and attract more tourists to the region while offering a unique trekking experience. The company aims to create lifelong memories for trekkers by leveraging its in-depth knowledge of the Tsum Valley and offering trekking packages that contribute to the local community and provide a comprehensive trekking experience.
As a homegrown company, Tsum Valley Treks initially focused on the Tsum Valley and Manaslu treks. It has since expanded its services across Nepal, including the renowned Manang Valley, Upper Mustang, Everest Base Camp, Makalu Base Camp, and Langtang Valley. Additionally, the company offers unique trekking experiences in lesser-known destinations such as Rupinala Pass, Ganesh Himal Base Camp, Serang Monastery, and Sarphuk in the Manaslu Region.
